“In my childhood, I moved around a lot, specifically from California to Pennsylvania when I was in second grade. And then I made a pretty big shift from Pennsylvania to Virginia when I was in third. Going from my childhood friends in California to Pennsylvania was the first big change because I didn’t really fit in with many of the kids in Pennsylvania. But with my move to Virginia, I was able to overcome that and actually make friends and come to the point I am today where I’m able to talk to people, and I’m not as anxious about talking to people and I think it’s completely other people. I don’t think anything about your personality is innate at all. Maybe some of it is from my parents and how I’ve observed them as I grew up. But most of my interests just sprout because I spend time with other people that have those interests, and we bond over them. For example, without one of my best friends I met in sixth grade, I wouldn’t be as excited to like write or have an obsession with pens that I had for almost three years straight.”
