October 26th Varsity Football Game

October 26, 2018, was a night dedicated to athletes, members of the band, and helping those in our community. The seniors participated in their final game, ending their high school careers with a 26-17 loss to Potomac Falls.

Starting off the night in pouring rain, Rock Ridge lost the toss and received the opening kick off at the 23-yard line. Rock Ridge was down seven points by the end of the first quarter but tied the game following a one-yard touchdown. Rock Ridge finished the first half of the game down by three points, with a score of 13-10 following a 30-yard field goal by sophomore Keegan Shackford.

Due to continuous rain and flooding in the stands, many supporters and cheerleaders left the game as the game continued. By the end of third quarter, Rock Ridge was down ten points, but the gap soon closed following a touchdown by senior Aryan Hegde. Nineteen seconds later, Potomac Falls made a touchdown with a missed point after touchdown, making the score of 26-17.

As the game winded down to its final seconds, seniors began hugging one another as they enjoyed their last game, playing the sport they love.
