Joseph Carter

Question: What classes are you teaching this year?

Joseph Carter: Intro & Advanced Strength & Conditioning, Intro to team sports, and Health & PE 10.

Q: How long have you been teaching and, if applicable, where else have you taught?

JC: This will be my 14 year teaching. I previously taught elementary PE and Special Education in Fauquier County and have taught Special Education at Loudoun Valley and John Champe High School the last 12 years.

Q: What are you most excited about for this year?

JC: This year I am most excited about being back in our school building with our students.  After a year of virtual learning, I’m happy to be able to see our students face to face everyday!

Q: What do you like most about teaching?

JC: What I enjoy most about teaching is the relationships that we build with our students. I want my students to know that while it’s important they learn the content presented in our classes, it is just as important that they know I care about their success outside of the classroom as well.

Q: What are some of your interests?

JC: My interests include spending time with my family (My wife Mandy and 2 sons, Jace (8) and Toby (5).) When I have free time I enjoy golfing and spending time at the baseball field with my sons. Also I’m a HUGE North Carolina Tar Heels basketball fan! I’m also a big fan of the Baltimore Orioles and Washington Football Team.

Q: Is there anything else you would like your students to know about you?

JC: I have been an assistant varsity coach for the boy’s basketball team the previous three years before joining the Rock Ridge staff this year.  I’m looking forward to teaching in the same building where I’ll be coaching, being able to see our students everyday and being able to be a bigger part of the Rock Ridge Community. Go Phoenix!
