Girls Basketball Coach: Gordon Neal
Varsity girls basketball coach Gordon Neal played high school basketball in Ohio, earning an All-State nod, and was named on the 3rd team All-Ohio roster. Neal played college basketball at Muskingum University before getting into coaching.
Neal has always believed that coaches have a crucial role in impacting student athletes both on and off the court. “I always loved the game of basketball, and when I had the opportunity through Loudoun County Public Schools and Harford County Public Schools in Maryland, I got into coaching.” Neal said. “It was exciting and I like working with young people.”
Neal emphasized that while he enjoys coaching the game of basketball, his favorite part is making a personal impact on a student-athlete’s life. “Through your relationship that you build with them, you’re able to help them become not only good student athletes, but you’ll be able to help them as they grow through life,” Neal said.
Neal also praised the girls basketball teams as he described their hard work ethic. “I enjoy working with the girls program, particularly the varsity where I am the head coach,” Neal said. “The girls have great attitudes, they come to work every day in practice, and everyone gets along. They are a great representation of Rock Ridge High School.”
