Swim Coach: Andrea Wardell
Coach Andrea Wardell is the varsity swimming coach. Throughout high school, Wardell swam and was on the cheerleading team; however, she ultimately chose to continue coaching swimming after her athletic career concluded. “I started coaching [swimming] because I enjoy the sport and want to share the joy,” Wardell said.
While Wardell enjoys all aspects of coaching swimming, her favorite parts are when she can watch the team come together. “My favorite part [about coaching] are the kids and the team spirit,” Wardell said.
“I love the team atmosphere and camaraderie. It is a lot of fun being at the meets!”
Senior Carly Davis, who has been swimming for 16 years, has known Wardell ever since she made the team during freshman year. “One thing I love about Wardell is her positive attitude and how she makes practice fun yet productive,” Davis said. “My favorite moments are when she dresses up for meetings and goes all out and cheers for every last swimmer.”
Wardell feels that coaching has been an adventure. “My experience has been very fulfilling and has been fun,” Wardell said. “It keeps me feeling like a part of the community.”
