On Friday, Dec. 15, the Student Council Administration (SCA) hosted its annual Frost Fest in the bus loop from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The event entailed the screening of “Home Alone 2” on a giant inflatable movie screen, s’mores, hot chocolate, and this year’s brand new addition: an ice skating rink. Students huddled around the two fire pits to escape the cold and roast marshmallows with their friends. “[The Frost Fest] brings everyone together in this family experience,” sophomore Anika Ranadive said. “It’s a judgment-free zone, so it’s just like, ‘Oh, let’s have fun together.’”
The addition of the ice skating rink to the beloved winter event attracted more students to come. “Obviously, we want to increase our school spirit; that’s always the goal with these events,” co-Executive Creative Director senior Jiya Chadha said. “I feel like, especially with the ice rink, it [can] hold a lot of people, so we’re expecting a lot of [students] to come.”
This year, students from all grades showed up in large numbers at the beginning of the night, but as the movie wrapped up and the weather got colder, the numbers dwindled. “I think [the Frost Fest] has been going really well,” senior Truc Bui said. “I’m with my friends; they’re all laughing and I’m just following them around. I took this heat pocket warmer from my friend, and it’s helping so much because [it’s so cold that] I can’t feel my fingers.”
