Freshman Kaushik Muskari prepares to hit the ball in his singles match. “I think I could’ve done a lot better,” Muskari said, “and of course there’s always a lot of room to improve, knowing that I’m still learning.”

On Thurs., April 21, the Phoenix boys varsity tennis team went against the Tuscarora Huskies. The boys took a steady lead, winning singles 6-0. After a strong performance in singles, three double matches took place. The Phoenix won doubles with a score of 3-0, and the team won with a final score of 9-0.

After the game, the Phoenix huddled together to reflect on their performance. “I thought we played pretty well considering [that] our last match was not very good, so we [kind of] bounced back in [this] match,” junior Neel Sawant said. “I think we can focus a lot more on finishing the point faster and getting in our second serves better.”

The team also is competing in districts, which starts on May 13. “I think it’s going to go really well. I’m excited to be able to play against harder players,” freshman Kaushik Muskari said, “ because there’s going to be a higher level of competition there.”
