![Senior Fatima Qaderi grew into the person she wanted to become when she was younger and continues to work towards growing more confident in using her voice when it matters. “I didnt get treated the way I wanted to be treated, and I realized that it wasnt just them treating me the wrong way, it was me treating me the wrong way,” Qaderi said. “I forced them to like to look at me in a way where Im someone who needs to be respected; they cant just disregard me, they cant just look over me because I have a different opinion, because Im a woman, because Im Afghan, because Im Muslim, or whatever. ![With the energy and effort the Bolts were bringing to the game, the Phoenix had to step up and match them to make it through their first game of the season. Phoenix Suffer Tough Loss to the Railroaders
The Phoenix varsity football team went up against the Brunswick Railroaders on Friday, Sept. 23. The team lost 35-61

On Friday, Sept. 23, students packed the stands with America Out gear to cheer on the Phoenix football team for their second home game of the season. With a win against Hampshire the previous week, both the students and football team went into the game with excitement. The Railroaders took a lead in the first half of the game with a score of 7-35. Despite the lead, the Phoenix were able to slowly catch up.
Throughout the game, the Phoenix scored five touchdowns, four of which came from senior Basit Qadri. Qadri was able to score three touchdowns back to back in the third quarter, upping the intensity of the game. “We did a good job preparing, just sometimes we forget our jobs during the game,” Qadri said. The final touchdown came from sophomore DJ Harvey.
Despite the strong effort from the boys, the Phoenix lost 35-61.

The rest of the golf team has been doing the same. “Nine times out of ten, [practice] is with all of [the golf team] collectively, “ Brooks said. “And then, some people might go out to the course, and some people might stay back.
