Seniors Casie Peng, Marisa Elengical, Zahria Ford, and Keerthi Kasaraneni gather around a table posted at the front of the library demonstrating different items to buy before they graduate. This table is to show seniors who haven’t bought anything that there is still time to buy their cap, gowns, and high school rings.

Every quarter, seniors gather for the Senior Breakfast, funded by food and money donations from families, in the library.

At the breakfast on Feb 23, at the front of the library there was a table filled with class rings, necklaces, caps and gowns. This table was for seniors to know that it was not too late to buy items they want before they graduate. After looking at the items to purchase, seniors were able to choose from breakfast burritos, fruits, cereal, breakfast sandwiches, and coffee. “The burrito was nice and the coffee was the highlight of my day,” senior Joshua Krishnappa said.

Normally when organizing the event there is a certain theme, significant date, or announcements in general, but this Senior Breakfast was just for seniors to relax. Counseling Administrative Assistant Liz Grainger’s goal was to get the seniors together in a relaxed and social setting with opportunities to ask questions about matters pertaining to seniors. “It’s nice to have everyone, like all your friends here in the morning,” Krishnappa said. “Sit down, eat, talk, and stuff like a social kind of gathering is just nice.”

Although seniors already enjoy the breakfast, they hope some changes or additions are made. Seniors Rohan Misra and Krishnappa share the same opinions on what they would like to have at the next breakfast. “This might be kind of a stretch, but maybe some board games or maybe activities for people to do if they wanted to, like a deck of cards,” Krishnappa said. Senior Riya Kulkarni hopes for seniors to get a “Senior Dinner” instead as an addition to the already existing Senior Breakfast.

Grainger mentioned in an email that she wants “students to know that we do this to give them a sense of belonging and to give a chance to have some quality social time together without being too forced or inconvenient.”

The next Senior Breakfast will be May 5 for Decision Day.
